Oh my, how have I given myself away, my dear admin? By the way....you need a name, not just Admin. Really, you would seem much more approachable and warm. You know what I mean? Admin is so....... up there ^^^^^

Dear Per, I think sisterhood is very valuable, too. Beer, cigar? Ok. I'm there. I would agree, but I often see "womens" groups fail. They seem to do so over loose tongues and cattiness. Have you seen the same?

Tulsapapist, I have only been on one forum, but there the women's forum is warm and inviting. Of course we may run into something catty, but for the most part it has been edifying and serves the purpose of creating a bit of a bond for the women. We keep track of who is pregnant, who has prayer needs....not to be made public, and spend very little time arguing. Almost any point of stress, and those have been very few, is worked out between us and has no need for moderation. This does not mean that every forum can be expected to have such warm chemistry, I wouldn't know since that is the only women's forum I've ever been on.

My day was quite typical. Still driving a loaner car. Okiedokie, did you know hubby and I were hit by a semi and lived to tell about it? Last Weds. Scared the bejeebers out of us. Anyway, just getting over a sore back which was the extent of our bodily injury. Praise our Lord and guardian angels. Sheet metal flew all over from the load on semi. Not one piece hit us. Just wow.

Okiedokie, today is rainy and gloomy, just planning on doing my duty (s) and going out to adoration. Last time we attempted to go for our Wednesday hour is when the semi took the front of the car off. This time I expect we will actually be able to make it all the way there and all the way home in one piece! My trusty dog has been the perfect dog lately. No more hunting up the ladies. But the sheep.....now that's another story... Which will end with many lambs later to make their way to our freezer.

You have given so much leeway here, you know? You may hear just about anything in this thread! I will try to not share TMI, so as not to bore to death the posters, and our dear moderator! But, I do like a dry white wine.

TP, thank you very much for taking the time to provide these links! So kind. I offer a Gloria Patri for you - my favorite prayer... for some reason, i'm always moved to tears. I have linux mint (Rosa) and will begin my studies tout de suite.

Have you seen the same? That is an excellent point. I grew up in a military household with lots of brothers, and their friends were my friends, so I had an overarching male influence in my development. It wasn't until high school on that I observed the nature of women in a group. And in my adulthood I've observed similar behaviors with trads. One example pertaining to me: I found out the gossip was that we attended an FSSP Mass on occasion (and when traveling and no TLM available, a NO Mass). I had conveyed that info in casual conversation at a women's coffee after Mass, and boy did that get around. Punishment: I no longer received emails from the group of women who communicated interesting trad info, and their warmth became a little chilly. Interestingly, and perhaps anecdotal, but we don't find that behavior at our - now - FSSP parish. Not even a little bit. I always used to keep my nose clean and avoid 'women's groups', but the one darned time I made an exception re: women only get togethers - bam, hero to zero in one fell swoop lol. Fast forward, I've no doubt that the gathering (women's subforum) that hopeful is referring to on SD is very edifying. I've observed the ripple effect of those women on other threads (in the main forum) that hopeful created (honestly, she is the uber gracious hostess hands down!), and they are so kind, and hilarious at times, and supportive, and interesting. I think our mighty moderator would agree. It should be the model for how trad women groups should be run, imho. Thanks to hopeful and some others, I'm considering joining that subforum.

Oh Per, you are too kind. Hosting a thread can be done by anyone. We just have the added pleasure of having an audience that is on our wavelength. You've probably spewed out of your nose one good cup of coffee, an appropriate response to the jokes and humor you read on our most silly posts. And yes, the women's thread is warm and the posters very amiable.
